Volunteering begins by filling out the application for the area in which you would like to work.
Our adult volunteers come to us looking for a fulfilling way to be involved in their local community. Some of them choose to volunteer following an excellent experience in one of our facilities either as a patient or the loved one of a patient. No matter why you choose to share the gift of your time with us, we look forward to finding you a place among a group of special people.
Adult Volunteer Placements
Adult volunteers fill a number of roles at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, NHRMC Orthopedic Hospital, Pender Memorial Hospital, offsite locations, SECU Family House, and as courtesy van drivers and volunteer nurses. This variety gives you options whether you are looking for a particular area of interest or a location near home. Learn more about how and where you can help.
NICU Baby Cuddler Position
One of the most popular requests for placement is as a "Cuddler Volunteer" in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). We are always impressed and touched by the community's concern for our tiniest and most vulnerable infants.
At this time, the NICU Baby Cuddler position is only open to current NHRMC volunteers with a minimum of six months of service.
How to Apply
We thank you for your interest in volunteering at NHRMC. Due to an overwhelming response for volunteers, we are not accepting applications for NHRMC's main campus, Betty H. Cameron Women's & Children's Hospital or for Courtesy Van or Shuttle drivers.
We welcome you to apply for our other locations by filling out the online application for your preferred area of interest.
Once your application is completed and submitted, complete the online orientation, tests and forms for new volunteers.
