Injury Prevention
New Hanover Regional Medical Center's Trauma Injury Prevention program focuses on community education and intervention. The best step we can take to avoid trauma is prevention. However, if you are injured our resources are designed to help you and your loved ones learn to address challenges, gain support from others with similar experiences and help you move forward in your recovery.
Trauma Survivors Network
NHRMC partners with the Trauma Survivors Network (TSN) to provide resources for trauma patients and their families to help manage recovery. These online tools are free and easily accessible to gain support beginning while you are still a patient in the hospital through their rehabilitation, recovery and beyond.
Trauma Survivors Support Group
NHRMC hosts a monthly group, facilitated by the TSN coordinator and often featuring guest speakers, on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m. at NHRMC Oleander Rehabilitation.
NextSteps Program
As part of the Trauma Survivors Network services offered at NHRMC, this six-week online class allows you to work with a trained leader and engage with other trauma survivors to learn self-management skills. The class allows you to set goals and work toward achieving them.
Stop the Bleed
This initiative of the American College of Surgeons and The Committee on Trauma aims to train the general public on hemorrhage/bleeding control. Stop the Bleed teaches and empowers community members to act quickly to save a life.
Training includes a slide presentation followed by a hands-on skills training session. Each session lasts approximately an hour depending on the size of your group.
If you are interested in having “Stop the Bleed” training brought to your group, use our Contact Us form to make your request.
