Conditions Addressed Through Cancer Rehabilitation
You may experience one or more of the following conditions as a result of your cancer. Rehabilitation can help with:
- Pain
- Lymphedema (swelling)
- Decreased range of motion
- Weakness
- Soft tissue tightness
- Infection risks
- Fatigue
- Postural changes
- Loss of balance and risk of falls
- Loss of normal function
Exercise
We’ll help you develop a safe exercise program that you can continue during and after chemotherapy and radiation. This will help you maintain your muscle strength and your energy levels.
Lymphedema Therapy
Lymphedema, or swelling, is a common problem with cancer treatment. It is caused by fluid building up in soft body tissues. Slow, carefully controlled exercises can help keep lymphedema from developing. Our therapists will help you with these exercises and show you what you can do to reduce swelling.
Swallowing Therapy
Treatment of mouth and throat cancers can impact your ability to swallow. We offer therapies that can improve the strength and coordination of the muscles that help you swallow so you can eat, drink, and communicate more easily.
