Primary Care
Your primary care doctor is the leader of your health care team. They’ll help you manage your health throughout your life: providing care for illnesses and injuries, monitoring changes in your health and working with specialists and the hospital to ensure all your medical needs are met.

Your Primary Care Team
Novant Health has primary care physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners who work together to give you complete, high-quality care that involves prevention, screenings and a focus on helping you be as healthy as you can be.
Our primary care practices include experts trained in internal medicine and family medicine. We also offer both M.D.s and D.O.s.
Internal Medicine
Internal Medicine physicians are trained to diagnose and treat a variety of illnesses and conditions in adults. They’ll provide screenings and physicals and help you manage chronic conditions that may develop.
Family Medicine
Family Medicine physicians offer the same services as internal medicine physicians, but also care for infants and children. Family medicine practitioners often care for each member of a family, gaining a larger perspective of the family’s medical history and how it could impact health.
M.D.s and D.O.s
We have both Medical Doctors (M.D.s) and Doctors of Osteopathy (D.O.s) in our primary care practices. They have similar training and skills in internal or family medicine, but doctors of osteopathy practice osteopathic manipulative medicine, which involves a more hands-on approach, which may involve spinal manipulation or massage therapy.
