New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) Chest Pain Center provides around-the-clock care. If you are admitted to the Emergency Department for chest pain, but you are not experiencing a heart attack or other serious heart event, you will be brought to the Chest Pain Center for careful monitoring.

Our Services

Our Heart Center provides a comfortable area to be tested and closely monitored. If treatment is needed, you can rest assured that expert care is readily available.

We are equipped to process laboratory tests, such as cardiac enzymes, electrocardiograms and nuclear cardiac scans. This enables us to get your test results quicker, which also allows for quicker treatment when needed.

What to Expect

Once it is determined that your chest pain is not related to a heart attack or other critical heart event, you will be brought to the Chest Pain Center. Based on your needs, you may be:

  • Scheduled for a diagnostic or treatment procedure
  • Admitted into an inpatient cardiology unit
  • Counseled on improving heart health and instructed to follow up with a cardiologist
  • Released to go home
