Coronary artery bypass grafting is a major surgery. It is important to have an experienced team you can trust. Surgeons at New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) Heart Center perform more than 500 open-heart procedures a year. We are also experienced and skilled in the most current minimally invasive techniques.
Experienced Team You Can Trust
Our cardiothoracic surgeons, physician assistants, and anesthesiologists are specially trained to care for you during heart bypass surgery. Highly skilled operating room nurses and technicians, an immediate recovery nursing staff, patient educators, and discharge planners are also part of your care.
Experts in CABG Surgeries
We perform the following bypass surgeries:
- Open-heart (traditional) surgery – heart is stopped and a special heart-lung bypass machine is used during surgery to secure the new graft
- Off-pump surgery – heart remains beating during surgery and advanced equipment is used to bypass the blocked artery
- Minimally invasive surgery – the surgery is completed through a smaller incision in the chest wall
