The Robert M. Fales Health Sciences Library is the largest health sciences library in Southeastern North Carolina. It offers medical, nursing and allied health journals and books, CDs, and DVDs. The library also provides the local newspaper as well as collections in pastoral care, consumer health, mental health, children’s health and history of medicine. Our librarians, with masters degrees, provide research assistance and teach classes in effective use of library electronic resources.
Health professionals in the SEAHEC region may borrow materials, request literature searches, receive library journal articles or books through interlibrary loans, and attend orientations and databases searching classes. Health sciences students are encouraged to use the library and computer lab as well as checkout books and audiovisuals.
The library provides access to the AHEC Digital Library, a virtual collection of health sciences journals, databases, EBM resources, and full-text books. Contact the library or come by to subscribe to the AHEC Digital Library.
- Books and Audiovisuals – May be checked out for two weeks with one renewal for an additional two-week period.
- Literature Searches – Available to healthcare professionals in the SEAHEC region.
- Interlibrary Loan – Health professionals may request books or journal articles through the SEAHEC Library for a fee.
