In response to the surge in positive COVID-19 cases, we are updating our visitor policy for Novant Health Medical Group clinics beginning August 31, 2021 to limit waiting room and lobby use as much as possible.
If a patient does not test positive for COVID-19 nor are they a person under investigation:
- Adult patients: No visitors are allowed in the waiting room unless the patient is over the age of 65 or clearly in need of a support person (e.g., communication or other special needs). One support person is allowed once it is time for the patient to be taken to the exam room. The visitor must be healthy, pass COVID-19 screening questions and wear a mask while onsite.
- Pediatric patients: Both parents are allowed. If only one parent can be present, then the patient can have an additional family member or support person.
If the patient has COVID-19 or is a person under investigation (PUI) for COVID-19:
No visitors are permitted unless the patient is:
- A minor or an adult with a mental disability.
Team members can invite these patients to have a support person on FaceTime or the phone during the appointment.
Review the visitor guidance for all Novant Health settings.
