The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation will host its annual Pink Ribbon Project Luncheon on Thursday, March 14, 2019, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Wilmington Convention Center.
Proceeds from the event support NHRMC Foundation’s efforts to provide free mammograms and diagnostic services to underserved women in the area as well as comfort bags to newly diagnosed cancer patients.
This year’s event will feature Kristy Woodson Harvey, a bestselling author of “Dear Carolina,” “Lies and Other Acts of Love,” and the Peachtree Bluff Series, including “Slightly South of Simple” and “The Secret to Southern Charm.” She lives in North Carolina, where she is working on her next novel.
The event will include a sit-down meal, participation in the purse auction, and an opportunity to meet Harvey following her address. Women attending the luncheon who are 40 or older and need to schedule a screening mammogram will be able to arrange an appointment with representatives from NHRMC Health & Diagnostics.
Tickets to the luncheon may be purchased online at www.nhrmcfoundation.org or by calling the NHRMC Foundation at 910.667.5002.
Since 1998, The Pink Ribbon Project has raised more than $2.2 million through the support of community partnerships, individual donations, and events. The organization has provided more than 7,600 comfort bags to local women upon diagnosis as they undergo treatment for cancer. The Pink Ribbon Project also funds mammography screenings for women in the region who do not have health insurance or financial resources, as well as follow-up diagnostic procedures for those who receive a suspect mammography result.
