Here's the Best Place for Employees Who Need Hurricane Relief Aid

October 01, 2018

In reviewing available resources for our teammates in need after the storm, the best resource in New Hanover County for employees needing immediate aid is the Community Recovery Resource Center at Independence Mall.

It is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Saturday, Oct. 6. Please note that it is not scheduled to be available after this week.

Please make every effort to accommodate staff who need assistance to take the time they need, if their schedule will not otherwise permit it, to visit this center. Expect the process to take three hours to complete.

The center will assist staff in applying for food assistance (DSNAP), FEMA aid, Small Business Administration loans, and various supplies, including clean-up kits. It will also connect those needing help with multiple agencies that provide this help, to include assistance with tree removal. (Another resource is the NC Baptist Men at nearby First Baptist Activities Center on Independence Drive).

Other disaster recovery centers are located throughout the region. Here is a list:

Brunswick County – Brunswick Community College- Odell Williamson Auditorium, 150 College Road, Bolivia

Duplin County - Wallace Presbyterian Church, 205 West Main Street
