NHRMC is always looking for ways to make sure our customers are informed in choosing healthcare services to meet their needs. We understand that for some services and procedures, our patients may want to review and research prices to ensure they are getting the best value.

The actual amount you must pay, as well as the actual amount the facility receives varies, due to many factors including your insurance coverage. Charges and out-of-pocket expenses may be higher or lower depending on your actual needs as no two patients are the same in their care or coverage. NHRMC also has many options to help you if you do not have insurance or are unable to pay the costs of your medical care. Our financial counselors are pleased to work with you to see if you qualify for financial assistance or other payment arrangements.

Federal regulations require that we provide different types of charge information. The first is “Gross Charges” which are the prices that are billed to all patients regardless of insurance coverage. These gross charges are maintained in a hospital’s Charge Description Master or CDM. The second type is the “Negotiated Charge” which varies based on agreements with different insurance companies. A patient will usually be responsible for a portion of the negotiated charge based on their insurance benefits. This information can be found in the files below.

No Surprise Medical Bills

When you get emergency care or are treated by an out-of-network provider at an in-network hospital or ambulatory surgical center, you are protected from balance billing. In these cases, you shouldn’t be charged more than your plan’s copayments, coinsurance and/or deductible.

Good Faith Estimate

Self-pay patients and those who are not using insurance have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any nonemergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment and hospital fees.

Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical item or service. You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider of your choice, to provide you with this estimate before you choose to schedule the item or service.

Make sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
