NHRMC Employees Reminded of Proper Use of Surgical Masks

March 21, 2020

NHRMC employees are reminded to make sure they and patients are only wearing surgical masks when it is appropriate. This helps ensure proper safety protocols are in place and that we are conserving resources by following the guidelines below:

  • Wearing of surgical masks when not necessary is prohibited
    • Do not wear masks when not performing patient care on a patient with precautions requiring a mask
    • Masks should not be given to patients or visitors who do not have symptoms such as fever, cough or shortness of breath
  • Surgical masks are to be used in Droplet Precaution rooms, unless performing an aerosol generating procedure
