Ruth Marescalco, RN, BSN, SCRN has been promoted to the role of Stroke Coordinator of NHRMC’s Comprehensive Stroke Center.
Ruth is an enthusiastic professional leader who has served as part of the NHRMC Stroke Team since 2015. Ruth consistently demonstrates her passion for the care of stroke patients on a daily basis. In her role as a nurse on the Stroke Unit, Ruth responds to Code Strokes to ensure that procedures and protocols are followed to deliver evidence-based care to patients suffering from a stroke. She also cares for stroke patients once they have been admitted to the Stroke Unit facilitating optimal outcomes.
Ruth serves as a mentor and preceptor for new nurses. Ruth began her career at NHRMC as a Nurse Aide II in 2014. She was hired as a RN on the PCU/Stroke Unit in 2015. She is Chair of Nursing Congress, where she oversees 5 different councils and utilizes LEAN methodology to ensure that projects are completed effectively with measurable outcomes.
Ruth earned her Bachelor of Arts from Gardner-Webb University in 2000 and her BSN from UNCW in 2014, where she graduated summa cum laude. Ruth has been certified as a Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN) since 2019. Please welcome Ruth to her new position as Stroke Coordinator effective October 4, 2020.
