Susan O'Brien to Retire after Decades of Service to HIV Patients

On Saturday, August 15, Susan O’Brien, Grant Manager for the Ryan White HIV Program will retire after 25 years of service to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. 

Susan started her career NHRMC in 1994 as a member of the Community Charge on Cancer Program team.  In 1996, Susan authored the first HIV grant proposal which provided the start-up funds for the HIV Care Team Clinic.  Since then, Susan has repeatedly secured ongoing funding that has supported and sustained the HIV clinic over the decades. 

Her work has facilitated the care of thousands of HIV positive patients in our service area.  Her dedication to our patients and passion for the quality of life for those living with HIV has changed the lives of many. 

When asked for a few words, Susan said her time at NHRMC has been life-changing.  She said she feels honored to have worked for such an exceptional organization and with such an incredible team.
