In a press conference Wednesday, Gov. Roy Cooper extended North Carolina’s COVID-19 Phase 2 reopening plan. In addition, he added a section that mandates mask wearing in public – inside and outside, if 6-foot social distancing cannot be guaranteed.
The governor’s actions are a response to North Carolina’s rapidly growing number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.
New Hanover County has experienced an increase in cases, and NHRMC has also seen an increase in the number of COVID-19 positive patients. Most of the patients are from New Hanover or Pender county, which marks a change from previous weeks when many of the cases came from outlying counties.
NHRMC continues to restrict visitation and enforce masking at all of our facilities. Employees are reminded that it is your duty to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, even when you are outside of work. By practicing these safety measures, you are helping protect your co-workers, our patients, and your loved ones.
Please follow the state guidelines for masking, hand hygiene and social distancing, and encourage others to do the same. In order to Lead Our Community to Outstanding Health, we must represent the highest standards of safety.
