County Commissioners Vote to Accept Partnership Advisory Group Recommendation

May 18, 2020
The New Hanover County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a recommendation from the NHRMC Partnership Advisory Group and the NHRMC Board of Trustees to focus its partnership exploration on three of the six organizations that submitted proposals to expand and improve healthcare options in the region.

The three recommended potential partners are Atrium Health, Duke Health and Novant Health. In presenting to the Board of Commissioners, Partnership Advisory Group Chairs Barb Biehner and Spence Broadhurst described how the three organizations showed the greatest commitment to supporting NHRMC’s staff, providers and community.

The vote is only to move forward with learning more about the partnership options, but does not eliminate the other partners from consideration or commit to entering a partnership.

The next step for the Advisory Group is to meet with the organizations virtually and work with the support team on further due diligence.

Each of the three organizations will provide public presentations in early June and at a public hearing on June 22. More details on those sessions will be released soon.

All proposals are posted on the www.nhrmcfuture.org website.
