NHRMC Rehab therapists (Emily Cavallo, OT/L, Kenzie Cross, PT, Paula Garris, PTA, Cathy Wright, PT as well as Sarah Bentley, LRT/CTRS) have begun a joint programming venture with Access FIT, a community-based fitness and wellness program offered to adults and older adults living with disabilities.
Access FIT is just one of the programs offered by Access of Wilmington which also hosts The Miracle League and Project SOAR . Their mission, aligning with NHRMC's "Leading our Community to Outstanding Health," is dedicated to building community for individuals with disabilities by eliminating barriers to health and wellness through adapted sports, recreation and fitness.
The Access FIT program occurs weekly at the Rehab Hospital allowing our patients to be introduced and to participate in the life-changing benefits of rehabilitation and learning a new normal that utilizes adapted fitness, sports and recreation to live a healthy lifestyle, after returning home.
The teamwork of Volunteer Services Coordinator Michelle Bare was instrumental in helping Rehab Services create this partnership with Access FIT.
