NHRMC participated in a safety exercise Tuesday morning in cooperation with the University of North Carolina Wilmington, which held an active attacker preparedness exercise.
Multiple NHRMC departments and staff participated in the exercise, which involved both the 17th Street and Orthopedic Hospital Emergency Departments. As part of the event, volunteers acting as patients were transported to both emergency departments. The patients that arrived at the NHRMC ED were transported aboard the Brunswick County EMS Mass Evacuation Bus, which can transport up to 21 patients at a time.
The safety exercise was a valuable training opportunity for NHRMC to assess emergency plans and protocols both internally and with our partners in the community.
