Maggie Doheny, Administrative Assistant for Emergency Services, passed away suddenly this week.
NHRMC will hold a memorial noon-2 p.m. Friday, August 30 in the NHRMC Auditorium.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 31 at Andrews Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Road.
Maggie was kind and selfless, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her personality shone bright and was always full of kindness and caring.
Maggie began her career at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in 1992 as a “temp.” Two weeks later, she was working with our Safety Officer helping to create NHRMC’s first Safety Manual. Maggie worked with Clinical Resources and entered data into MIDAS while helping to create our first prescription program for patients in need.
She also worked with Special Police, Surgical Services and even our ICUs! Maggie was a tremendous resource to Nursing Congress and its annual Celebrate the Gold event.
All of nursing has benefited from her work related to the Nursing Resource Fund and the support NHRMC provides to our nursing team. After nearly 27 years with NHRMC, Maggie was moving toward retirement and was looking forward to spending more time with her four “boys” (dachshunds), her mother, daughter and grandchildren.
Maggie’s contributions to Emergency Services have been too numerous to mention but she will be missed by her Emergency Department family as we celebrate her life and service to NHRMC. We will remember and miss our colleague and friend.
