New Hanover Regional Medical Center has been recognized by the American Red Cross as a 2019 Premier Blood Partner for its support of the regional and national blood supply. In 2018, NHRMC helped the American Red Cross collect more than 750 blood donations.
“Every day, volunteer blood and platelet donors are needed to help save lives,” said Kevin Briggs, NHRMC Administrator of Laboratory Services, which organizes many of NHRMC’s blood drives.
AirLink/VitaLink Critical Care Transport, which is part of NHRMC, has also been named a Premier Blood Partner by collecting donations across the region as part of its commitment to help save lives of patients facing illnesses and injuries in southeastern North Carolina.
“AirLink/VitaLink is proud to be a part of the Red Cross mission that helps ensure lifesaving blood is available for hospital patients in need,” said John Popella, NHRMC’s Director of Critical Care Transport. “I want to particularly recognize Kevin Collopy, our clinical outcomes manager, for independently arranging all of the AirLink blood drives that have made such a significant contribution.”
The next AirLink blood drive is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 1 at the Executive Terminal at Albert J. Ellis Airport in Richlands.
