The 2019 Celebrate the Gold Nursing Gala was a rousing success and had the largest attendance ever, with 787 tickets sold.

The 15th annual NHRMC celebration of nursing changed venues this year, moving to a more spacious room at the Wilmington Convention Center with a Red Carpet theme and music by Port City Shakedown. The goal was to raise $50,000 this year to fund a Habitat Home in addition to the Nursing Resource Fund. Nurses and other hospital staff will participate in the construction of the home after a groundbreaking this fall.

“I was amazed and humbled by all the hands that worked together to make Celebrate the Gold a success,” said Nursing Congress Chair Jessi Nowak. “Thank you to all the nursing units and departments that donated beautiful baskets to the very successful silent auction, and the committees that helped organize the event, who were led by Trina Davis, Sherry Murvin and Ruth Marescalco.”

Nowak also thanked NHRMC Marketing, the NHRMC Foundation, event volunteers and Andrea Hastie for their efforts.

“Thanks to our nursing leaders, Mary Ellen Bonczek and Amy Akers who support us and allow us to dream big,” Nowak said. “I am awestruck by everyone's selfless dedication in support of a Habitat build for a family and in support of Nurses. Thank you for allowing me to participate in this event with you.”
