Through a partnership with NHRMC, Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity is primed to begin work on a Habitat House on May 4. This is the ninth house Habitat is building with NHRMC, and this year’s homeowner will be Karey, a Nurse Assistant II at NHRMC.
Karey heard about the Habitat for Humanity homeownership program from co-workers and was immediately interested in learning more. She signed up for the program and has been investing her sweat equity into Habitat projects.
You can register to help with the Habitat project at the Cape Fear Habitat NHRMC page. No construction experience is needed; Habitat experts will teach you everything you need to know.
Some departments may have designated team-building days, but there are open slots for anyone who wants to participate on the following dates:
- May 4: Finishing Touches
- May 11: Wall Raising
- May 18: Roof Sheathing
- June 1: Miscellaneous Framing
- June 8: Vinyl Siding
- June 15: Vinyl Siding
- July 13: Painting
- July 20: Hardware and Baseboards
Our Habitat House is a project of our Mission Corps, a team of NHRMC volunteers dedicated to making our community a better, healthier place to live. Check out the Mission Corps Yammer group for more information on other projects.
Nursing Congress Habitat Build
The NHRMC Nursing Congress is also launching a Habitat House project in conjunction with this year’s Celebrate the Gold. The nurses are working to raise $50,000 to support the build and will be participating in the construction, which will begin this fall.
