March 26, 2019

The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation is pleased to announce $132,473 has been raised to support The Pink Ribbon Project, which provides free mammograms and diagnostic services to underserved women in the area as well as comfort bags to newly diagnosed cancer patients.

Of that total, $84,048 was raised at the annual Pink Ribbon Project Luncheon held March 14, 2019 at the Wilmington Convention Center and $48,425 was raised at 15 events held in 2018 by groups or individuals.

“We are delighted with the success of our luncheon and we are especially grateful to the community supporters who took initiative to support this worthy cause by holding independent events,” said Schorr Davis, NHRMC Vice President of Development/Foundation Executive Director. “We are proud of the community’s ongoing commitment to support this life-saving program.”

Since 1998, The Pink Ribbon Project has raised more than $3 million through the support of community partnerships, individual donations, and events. The organization has provided more than 7,700 comfort bags to local women upon diagnosis as they undergo treatment for cancer. The Pink Ribbon Project also funds mammography screenings for women in the region who do not have health insurance or financial resources, as well as follow-up diagnostic procedures for those who receive a suspect mammography result.
