Carolinas Classic

Each year, NC and SC’s top high-school basketball players face off in the Carolinas Classic game. The series, held in Wilmington the past two years, is hosted by the FLOCK Foundation of the House of Raeford and all the proceeds from ticket sales go to local charities.

This year, the proceeds will benefit Access of Wilmington, The Miracle League, FIT, Project SOAR, and the NHRMC Foundation. Access Wilmington received $25,000 and the NHRMC Foundation received a $10,000 donation.

On March 25, the athletes visited some of our patients here in the NHRMC Rehabilitation Hospital and Betty H. Cameron Women's and Children's HospitalPatients had a great time talking with them about the NC vs SC rivalry, talking to the athletes about which colleges they would be playing for in the fall, and trying on Carolinas Classic t-shirts the athletes were handing out.

On Saturday night during the games, it was announced that local track athlete, Daisy Neely from Pender High School was awarded a trip by the FLOCK Foundation of the House of Raeford to train with an Olympic coach. Access of Wilmington and NHRMC teamed up to get Daisy a specialized wheelchair which allows her to compete at the state level.
