On Tuesday, December 11, NHRMC will begin testing for a new real-time location system. Some clinical staff at NHRMC will wear locator badges, and asset tags will be applied to key equipment, such as adult beds, WOW carts, adult infusion pumps and wound vacs. By using the badges and tags now, staff can test whether the installed sensors are working correctly and transferring location information into locator boards and computer stations.
The location system is part of NHRMC’s flow and throughput initiative to better serve patients as they move through the system. For staff and physicians, it will mean less time wasted trying to find resources. The full system, which provides locator badges to patients and ties into bed assignments through Epic, will go live February 2.
The Command Center will be open from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. starting December 11. Subject matter experts will be available in each unit testing the badges to answer questions and respond if badges don’t seem to be working correctly. After hours, staff can log a ticket by calling extension 6300.
