BURGAW – Pender Memorial Hospital, including its Emergency Department, reopened Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018.
For the safety of the community, patients and staff, Pender Memorial Hospital was closed starting at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, ahead of the arrival of Hurricane Florence.
NHRMC’s Emergency Department on South 17th Street in Wilmington has remained open to patients. NHRMC also worked with our affiliate Atrium Health to bring Med 1, a fully operational mobile hospital, to Burgaw to provide residents access to care until Pender Memorial could safely reopen.
PMH President Ruth Glaser, Medical Director Dr. Heather Davis, Chief Nurse Executive Cindy Faulkner, and members of the PMH team have been on site with Med 1 providing support and seeing patients there. PMH also provided them with supplies, including blood, to keep serving the residents in the community.
“We are excited to be open for business and look forward to seeing patients,” Glaser said. “We are grateful to the Med 1 team for partnering with us to continue offering hospital care to the community in the wake of this serious storm.”
Med 1 is scheduled to depart Burgaw on Wednesday.
