More than 160 participants completed the Good For You 5K Saturday morning on a shaded course at Hugh MacRae Park. The event helps reinforce NHRMC's commitment to the health of our employees.
For many, completing the 5K was the culmination of a program they enrolled in after making a decision to live a healthier lifestyle.
"I am so Happy to see so many of our members being active in and outside of the gym!" said Sheri Albertson, Fitness Center Program Coordinator. "What better way of being an example of how to get healthy and Putting our mission statement of Leading our community to outstanding health into action! I'm proud of our NHRMC families for being those examples to each other and others of how to become healthier versions of themselves ... one step at a time!"
Raymond Gephart and Erin Escarsega were the Good For You 5K overall winners. Gephart finished the 3.1-mile course in 19:15, for a pace of 6:12 per mile. Escarsega finished in 23:11, a pace of 7:28.
After the race, many of the 5K finishers continued their fitness quest with a Spartan workout, which incorporated the equipment at Hugh MacRae Park.
If you would like to start your own fitness journey, stop by the Employee Fitness Center and ask how to get started. We can't promise that you'll ever run a 6-minute mile like Raymond, but we will help you take steps to living a healthier lifestyle.
