To recognize the importance of patient safety across the NHRMC system, our Patient Safety team held a reception Thursday in the NHRMC Auditorium.
At the Patient Safety Week ceremony, Rhonda Amoroso, Chairwoman of the Quality and Safety Committee for the NHRMC Board of Trustees, delivered the keynote address. Amoroso's speech centered on inspiring a safety culture that fosters excellent customer experience as the main driver to business growth and the future of the NHRMC system. She was one of several board members who attended the reception.
NHRMC Chief Nurse Executive Mary Ellen Bonczek and Pender Memorial Hospital CNE Cynthia Faulkner handed out 45 awards, recognizing 31 Outstanding Patient Safety Projects from the last year.
The Patient Safety Team, including Johnsie Davis, Sandy Andrews, Billie Robinson, Stacy Colbert, Rhonda Ostrander, Toni Dural, and Angela Black capitalized on Patient Safety Week and raised awareness by giving out popcorn, games, positing on Yammer, rounding in patient care areas with CEO John Gizdic, and visiting many areas across the system with a “We Are All Patients” banner. The Patient Safety Team also distributed a Word Search that drew more than 1,500 responses from throughout the system! The winners of $25 gift certificates will be announced next week.
