The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation hosted the 2018 I Heart Fashion Benefit to support local atrial fibrillation (AFib) patients on Thursday, March 15, at the Coastline Conference and Event Center in downtown Wilmington.
This event, in its third year, featured outfits provided by area retailers and modeled by patients, staff and physicians affiliated with NHRMC, as well as members of the community. Proceeds from the event will directly impact the Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Program at Cape Fear Heart Associates – NHRMC Physician Group. The program helps provide education and efficient care for patients with the condition.
“We are thrilled to present the 3rd Annual I Heart Fashion Benefit,” said NHRMC Foundation Vice President of Development and Executive Director Schorr Davis. “This year, the proceeds will reflect our focus on patients with AFib. We are grateful to our models for their involvement in this event to help us not only raise awareness in our community, but to also promote wellness and prevention.”
AFib is common type of heart rhythm abnormality that is one of the leading ricks factors for stroke. It affects 2.7 million people in the United States and can also increase the risk of heart failure and other heart-related conditions.
