WILMINGTON, NC – NHRMC Physician Specialists- OB/GYN Specialists is planning to increase recruitment and retention of patients within their CenteringPregnancy model of care thanks to a grant from the North Carolina chapter of March of Dimes.
CenteringPregnancy, a program that encourages the mother-to-be to be more involved in her care through connections with other expectant moms in a group setting, has proven to improve outcomes for mothers and babies.
The program is designed to help women learn more about pregnancy, better prepare them for delivery and caring for their babies, and receive more time with their healthcare providers.
"The grant from the March of Dimes allows us to continue to raise the already high standard of care for women in the program during and after pregnancy,” said Practice Manager Victoria Oxendine, RN, DNP, FNP.
“Currently we have 106 women enrolled in the program, and we expect to enroll 75 more in the next 12 months. More than 250 women have had at least one CenteringPregnancy visit since 2013.”
Women receive CenteringPregnancy books about prenatal care and can enjoy healthy foods thanks in part to the grant from the March of Dimes.
