Proceeds from the event support NHRMC Foundation’s efforts to provide free mammograms and diagnostic services to underserved women in the area as well as comfort bags to newly diagnosed cancer patients.

“Twenty years is a milestone and we are so grateful to our community for their generous support of the Pink Ribbon Project and all it provides women who need access to compassionate care at a very vulnerable time,” said NHRMC Foundation Executive Director and Vice President of Development Schorr Davis. “Thanks to many exceptional leaders, committee members, donors, volunteers and staff for their dedication and heart. Their work and commitment to the Pink Ribbon Project have given our region two decades of hope and healing to those facing cancer.”

This year’s event will feature New York Times best-selling author Elin Hilderbrand. Known as “queen of the beach novel,” Hilderbrand has written 17 novels, 11 of which are New York Times best-sellers. Her novels have all been set on and around Nantucket, MA, where she lives, and the stories in her books cover many topics, such as domestic abuse, tested friendships, health scares and more. As a breast cancer survivor, she speaks about overcoming life’s challenges and being a symbol of strength and success.

The event will include a sit-down meal, participation in the purse auction, and an opportunity to meet Hilderbrand following her address. Women attending the luncheon, who are 40 or older and need to schedule a screening mammogram, will be able to arrange an appointment with representatives from NHRMC Health & Diagnostics.

Tickets to the luncheon may be purchased online at www.nhrmcfoundation.org or by calling the NHRMC Foundation at 910.667.5002.

Since 1998, The Pink Ribbon Project has raised more than $2.1 million through the support of community partnerships, individual donations, and events. The organization has provided more than 7,400 comfort bags to local women upon diagnosis as they undergo treatment for cancer. The Pink Ribbon Project also funds mammography screenings for women in the region who do not have health insurance or financial resources, as well as follow-up diagnostic procedures for those who receive a suspect mammography result.
