The staff and volunteers of the SECU Family House at New Hanover Regional Medical Center would like to thank several local organizations for their generous donations. Since opening in December of 2014, the SECU Family House has provided housing to and support to more than 6,820 out of town guests who have a hospitalized family member.
During that time, organizations in our community contributed $35,752 worth of in-kind goods, including paper and household products, toiletries, pantry items, baked goods, and many catered meals.
Several area restaurants provide regular meals including:
• J. Michael’s Philly Deli on Oleander Drive with dinner every other Wednesday
• Giorgio’s Italian Restaurant with dinner once a month
• Papa Murphy’s Pizza at Long Leaf Mall with pizzas once a month
• Subway on Shipyard Boulevard with sandwiches and cookies every Sunday
Many other businesses, community groups and families also provide meals and household items, including Maxim Health Care, Hardee’s and several SECU branches.
“We really appreciate these organizations for all they do for our guests,” said Eileen McConville, NHRMC director of volunteer services. “It means so much to our guests to not worry about preparing their evening meal. These meals give them one less thing to think about.”
If any organization wants to get involved, please call 910.662.9984 and leave a message.
