NHRMC Uses FaceTime to Help Patient and Husband Connect

January 29, 2014

“It’s so good to see his face.”

Amanda Little has been a patient on the antepartum unit for two weeks and her husband has visited every day. Until the winter storm kept him from coming in. To help them connect, NHRMC provided an iPad so they could use FaceTime to talk face-to-face.

Jean Overton, RN made the call to the command center to make it happen. “I saw her getting down and thought it would be a good way to help her cheer up,” said Jean.

Amanda and her husband talked as he showed her the snow and ice outside their tome. “Seeing him brought tears to my eyes,” said Amanda. “Tears in a good way.”

If you have a patient who would like to use FaceTime to talk with a loved one they can’t see during the storm, call the Command Center at 343.4860. The family member must have an apple product with FaceTime to make the call.
