This panel discussion is intended to shed light on the various barriers faced by the LGBTQ+ community around reproductive health and family planning, as well as offer strategies to ensure safe and relevant reproductive care.

PANELISTS
Kayden Coleman
Kayden Coleman, 34, is a black transgender man who has carried and given birth to two daughters. He is one of very few black transgender men who have done so publicly. Kayden gained public attention when his first pregnancy story went viral in 2015, following an article published in a popular UK-based newspaper. Kayden then gained attention again when a political figure used his images and videos to spew hate toward the trans community, two days after Kayden gave birth to his second daughter.
Danielle Little
Danielle A. Little, MAEd, CLC, is the professional education coordinator for the March of Dimes Ready for Life Campaign. She has supported her community as a maternal child health professional for over 14 years. She believes in the value of health education, health literacy, and the impact it can have on the overall well-being and success of growing families. Danielle holds a bachelor’s degree in child development from Peace University, a master’s in adult education from East Carolina University, and is a 2021 candidate for the education in healthcare certificate from East Carolina University. Danielle is a birth and postpartum doula, certified lactation counselor, and childbirth educator.
Dr. Karenne Fru
Dr. Karenne Fru was born in Cameroon, West Africa. She received a BA in Biology at Wesleyan College, Macon, Georgia.
She subsequently completed medical training at the Medical College of Georgia, receiving doctorates in Medicine and Physiology. Her dissertation research was in peri-ovulatory events in non-human primates.
She completed her internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Greenville Hospital Systems, Greenville SC. Subsequent Fellowship training was in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.
Current research interests include recurrent pregnancy loss, mullerian anomalies, racial disparities in reproductive health, impact of hematologic diseases on reproduction, special communities’ interaction with reproductive health specialists.
Dr Fru is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She recently helped establish of Fertility for Colored Girls in Columbia, SC.
Outside the office Dr Fru is a proud mama, competent salsa dancer, gardener, cook and photographer. She is also interested in travel and foreign languages including French, Spanish, Korean and Hindi.
Dr. Jacqui McMillian-Bohler
Dr. McMillian-Bohler (she/her/hers) is an assistant clinical professor at Duke University School of Nursing, where she teaches health promotion and perinatal nursing in the pre-professional and master’s degree programs. She has presented nationally, regionally, and locally on the subject of faculty development, and has and published on the subjects of inclusive teaching strategies, birth equity, addressing microaggressions, and student engagement. As a certified nurse-midwife, Dr. McMillian-Bohler provided obstetrical and gynecological care in Charleston, Nashville, and Louisville.
