Nursing Opportunities in Many Settings
With the large scope of New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s services, experienced, skilled and compassionate nurses can find nursing opportunities in a variety of settings.
NHRMC Home Care nurses care for patients all around the seven-county area of southeastern North Carolina. Our nurses can live and work in their home communities. We're connected with each other, nurses and other members of the NHRMC team through technology and a shared electronic medical record system.
Our hospital-based nurses in the medical/surgical units provide care for adult patients. We look for nurses who are able to care for patients who may have multiple diagnoses and can help them understand their condition and medication needs.
Nurse aides often develop very rewarding relationships with their patients as they help them with personal care tasks. Our nurse aides work as part of our team under a nurse’s supervision. Being a nurse aide is often a first step in pursuing a nursing career. Our SharedCare model of nursing helps all members of the team work to the top of their license.

Women’s & Children’s
NHRMC Betty H. Cameron Women’s and Children’s Hospital provides complete care for women and children in a technically advanced, comfortable and family-centered environment. Nurses can work in:

- Women’s Unit
With a Level II Trauma Center at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, and full service emergency departments at NHRMC Orthopedic Hospital, Pender Memorial Hospital and NHRMC Emergency Department – North, we offer nurses with an interest and training in emergency care many opportunities to work in a setting that’s right for you.
We treat patients with even the most complex heart conditions. Our Heart Center includes inpatient and outpatient nursing opportunities in areas such as:

The Nursing Congress is a shared governance model of accountability for nursing practice, representing more than 1,900 nurses who practice at NHRMC. Nursing representatives from across the organization make decisions regarding practice, resource allocation and professional growth, based on current research and measurement of outcomes.
NHRMC encourages lifelong learning through opportunities to qualify for tuition reimbursement, scholarships and stipends. A Nursing Resource Fund is available to provide financial support for research projects and continuing education. Funding comes through donations to New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation.
Nursing Certification is supported through educational training opportunities. Nurses receive a stipend upon certification in their area of practice. This certification requires the nurse to exhibit expert knowledge that is measured by an exam, as well as maintain specific annual education requirements.
Nurses at NHRMC are encouraged to identify opportunities for improvement and take ownership in finding ways to make needed changes. The professional ladder program rewards staff nurses for completing performance improvement and educational projects.
