Specialized Pregnancy Care
We are experts at helping evaluate high-risk pregnancy conditions and providing a care plan aimed with keeping you and your growing baby healthy. Your treatment with us begins with a consultation with one of our maternal fetal specialists to determine your specific needs.
Testing and Treatment
We use a variety of testing and diagnostic procedures to assess your condition and to develop a treatment plan. Some tests we may perform include:
- Ultrasound: Most of our patients will have a fetal ultrasound at their first consultation. Ultrasound may be used to assess:
- Fetal growth
- Fetal organs for birth defects
- Fetal markers for signs of genetic syndromes
- Location of the placenta
- Umbilical cord malformations
- Amniotic fluid levels
- Health of the uterus or cervix
- Fetal echocardiogram may be used to assess your baby’s heart and color-flow
- Doppler may be used to evaluate blood flow through major arteries and veins
We want you to be involved in making choices about your pregnancy, therefore all testing is offered on a voluntary basis. We will discuss risks of your pregnancy, testing options and available technology so you can make the best choice for yourself. Some testing, such as blood screening for Down's syndrome and amniocentesis, is offered to all patients in accordance with American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) standards. You may also be offered additional testing based on your condition.
Depending on your condition, your doctor may suggest performing an amniocentesis. Along with other types of fetal testing, amniocentesis may involve a small risk of pregnancy loss.We will discuss your risks, answer any concerns and help you to make the best decision regarding this type of testing.
Certain complications or medical conditions may mean you need additional testing and evaluation during your pregnancy. We will work closely with you to manage you condition, adjust and change medications, and monitor you and your baby to help improve your chances of a healthy delivery.
