Our Services

Cape Fear Cancer Specialists provides expert care for adults with cancer that includes the assessment, treatment, and management of cancer and its side effects. Each patient has different needs and we will help you identify what those are and bring together the best team to support you.

Cancer Treatment Options

There are many types of cancer treatments we can use to fight your cancer. Which we choose will depend on the type of tumor you have, how it has grown and spread, and how you feel about the risks and potential benefits. We’ll talk to you about your options so you can feel comfortable with your treatment plan and know it’s right for you.

Your treatment plan may include one or more of the following:

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy uses drugs to fight cancer throughout your body. You may receive chemotherapy in either our practice office or NHRMC Zimmer Cancer Center.

Surgery

We may recommend surgery to remove a cancerous tumor and check tissue and lymph nodes to see if a cancer has spread. We will refer you to a skilled surgical oncologist for your surgery and consult with them on your case and outcomes.

Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy kills cancer cells using high-energy rays. It can be delivered externally, from a machine, or through internally placed radioactive materials near the cancer cells. If radiation therapy is a good option for you, we will work with a radiation oncologist to provide this treatment.

Hormone Therapy

Hormone therapy is a way to prevent the cancer cells from getting or using the hormones they need to grow. We may administer hormone treatments through injections or pills, or recommend you have a surgical oncologist remove the organs that make hormones.

Targeted Therapy

Targeted therapy is a type of biological therapy that uses medicines to block the growth and spread of cancer.

Ongoing Support through Treatment & Beyond

We will continue to monitor how your treatments are going and how your body is handling the side effects. Our staff and physicians are available to answer your questions, talk through your concerns and suggest ways to make things better.

We may make adjustments in your treatment plan as things change. We will always explain our recommendations to you. If a consultation with another specialist is required, we will help make that referral.
