New Hanover Regional Medical Center
New Hanover Regional Medical Center is an 855 bed regional referral center serving southeastern North Carolina. A teaching hospital, regional referral center, and Level 2 Trauma Center, NHRMC is dedicated to providing a wide range of health care services to the citizens of our region.
The Zimmer Cancer Center of the NHRMC provides the only fully integrated multidisciplinary oncologic service in southeastern North Carolina. It is accredited as a Teaching Hospital Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Surgical Pavilion which opened on June 30, 2008 provides area residents access to surgical services in a comfortable setting. The 26 operating rooms are large enough to accommodate advanced laparoscopic procedures and the latest in surgical technology, including the da Vinci Surgical System. With the only da Vinci surgical robot in the Wilmington area, the Surgical Pavilion can provide the latest in minimally invasive surgery.
General Surgery Specialists
General Surgery Specialists is a medical practice run by NHRMC. The General Surgery Specialists is staffed by Surgery Residency faculty members Drs. William W. Hope, W. Borden Hooks, III, Elizabeth Acquista and Michelle Fillion. They specialize in minimally invasive techniques for bariatric, hernia, and endocrine surgery along with gastric, small bowel, colon, kidney and gynecologic cancers.
