South East Area Health Education Center
The South East Area Health Education Center is one of nine members of North Carolina's incomparable AHEC system. SEAHEC has distinguished itself by meeting its regional education mandate to the five-county area it serves in Southeastern North Carolina. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is our primary academic affiliation. It is this country's oldest public institution of higher learning. The School of Medicine, long known for its high-profile, subspecialty medical education, has emerged in the last decade as one of the nation's premiere institutions for education in OB/GYN. Approximately 60% of UNC OB/GYN residents enter private practice, while 40% choose a career in academic medicine.
