The library provides access to the AHEC Digital Library, a virtual collection of health sciences journals, databases, EBM resources, and full-text books. Contact the library or stop in to set up home access to the AHEC Digital Library.
Our library is the largest health sciences library in southeastern North Carolina. In addition to the electronic resources in the AHEC Digital Library, we provide print medical, nursing and allied health books, CDs, and DVDs.
The library also provides collections in health administration, pastoral care, mental health, children's health and history of medicine. Our librarians, with master's degrees, provide research assistance and teach classes in effective use of library electronic resources.
Health professionals in the SEAHEC region may borrow materials, request literature searches, receive library journal articles or books through interlibrary loans, and attend orientations and databases searching classes. Health sciences students are encouraged to use the library and computer lab as well as check out books and audiovisuals.
- Books and Audiovisuals – May be checked out for two (2) weeks with one (1) renewal for an additional two (2) week period.
- Literature Searches – Available to healthcare professionals.
- Interlibrary Loan (ILL) – Health Professionals may request books or journal articles from another library for a fee.
