Research Staff Directory

New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Research Department supports the advancement of quality patient care through medical and surgical research studies. Part of the South East Area Health Education Center, our staff works with healthcare professionals to conduct clinical trials, design studies, collect data, analyze and present results. Our staff has experience in investigational drug and device studies with access to patients in the outpatient and inpatient setting. Types of studies include Phase II – IV studies across multiple therapeutic areas. We use EPIC electronic medical records to identify and track study participants and communicate with treating physicians. 

Study Design & Biostatistician Consultation

Our team offers expertise on designing research  studies that meet IRB requirements and produce reliable results.  We can provide basic assistance or full service study coordination, depending on your needs. Learn more about our study design and biostatistician consulting.

Institutional Review Board

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) ensures studies protect the safety of patients and comply with all applicable laws, regulations and guidelines for clinical research. We have a local IRB and also use a commercial IRB (WIRB) for industry funded studies and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) CIRB for applicable oncology studies. 

Graduate Medical Education Research
