Biography

Hello! My name is Phillip Deal. I was born and raised in Huntersville, NC, a city just north of Charlotte. I, along with most of my extended family, have lived in North Carolina my entire life. I went to undergrad here in Wilmington at UNCW, where I met my beautiful wife Megan (who currently teaches 3rd grade). I then attended Campbell University for medical school as part of their inaugural class. We have a dog named Moose who runs the show at home — he’s a rescue, and is a mix of a bunch of different breeds that we haven’t quite figured out yet.

It was in medical school that I developed my love for Family Medicine, particularly as I helped start the very first Free Clinic run by osteopathic medical students in North Carolina. Having gone to undergrad in Wilmington, I already knew that I loved the city and its people. After my interview here at Coastal Family Medicine, my desire to return to Wilmington only grew exponentially. I am extremely thankful to be a part of the family-oriented residency program here at CFM, and am especially appreciative of the rigorous curriculum that affords me the opportunities to become the well-rounded family physician that I strive to be!
