Introduction to Hypertension Class

The key to improving heart health is making practical and sustainable lifestyle changes at a pace that’s realistic for you. This class teaches employees and dependents with hypertension how their medication, nutrition and exercise habits can help lower their blood pressure and improve their overall health. This class is taught by your Wellness Pharmacist, Wellness Dietitian and Program Director/Personal Trainer from the Jack Barto Center for Employee Fitness.

Introduction to Diabetes

Designed as a foundation for all Healthy Lifestyles Plan participants with diabetes or pre-diabetes, this class provides attendees with an introduction to essential topics related to diabetes management and care. Topics will include understanding diabetes (types and development), medications and treatments, treating high and low blood sugar, nutrition, carb counting, physical activity, and reducing risk of future complications

If you have completed this class in the past with credit, there is no need to take it again.

Introduction to Diabetes Online Learning Program

Heart Health and Healthy Lifestyles Class

If you completed the Heart Health and Healthy Lifestyles Class or took it online in a previous year, you do not need to repeat it in 2019. Refer to your scorecard for individual requirements.

  • Heart Health: This class details how heart disease is related to diabetes. Because the two conditions are so closely linked, it is important to understand what tools you can use to prevent future complications. This class will examine pre-diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, as well as treatment goals and their relationship to diabetes.
  • Healthy Lifestyles:  This class offers guidance on how to live a healthy, fulfilling life with chronic disease. Topics will include stress and depression management, exercise guidelines and diet.
