The imaging/radiology department practices a team-centered approach to delivering exceptional patient care. We offer opportunities for technologists in general radiology, CT, ultrasound, mammography, MRI, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, and PET.
Each of our technologists is registered in specific modalities or are registry-eligible. Tuition assistance and educational materials are available to help technologists pass the registry.
We offer opportunities in both hospital and outpatient facilities. Our hospital-based sites are New Hanover Regional Medical Center, NHRMC Orthopedic Hospital and Pender Memorial Hospital. Our outpatient Health and Diagnostics sites are located at the Medical Mall, Porter's Neck, Military Cutoff, Brunswick Forest, Rocky Point and NHRMC H&D - North.
Our outpatient sites offer techs the opportunity to cross-train and work in a diverse atmosphere. Modalities include CT, MRI, diagnostics, mammography, ultrasound, and bone density.
Technology & Accreditation
We offer advanced digital equipment, cardiac MRI, cardiac CT and dedicated radiology equipment in our emergency departments.
We participate in the National Oncologic PET Registry. Research projects are being performed in PET, CT, mammography and bone density.
We are accredited by the Joint Commission and the American College of Radiology for CT, MRI, ultrasound, and mammography.
A team of board-certified radiologists provide around-the-clock in-house coverage. There is a section chief for each modality, along with the medical director and department chairman. Radiologists have been trained on our EPIC Radiant system, and are supported by three physician's assistants focused solely on patient care and teamwork.
Fifteen staff nurses and two PRNs practice department-wide in diagnostics, CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiology.
Our Employee Council is comprised of staff-level employees who work with our management team to grow the department and manage our performance and behavioral standards. The council is fully engaged in our capital processes, including renovations and budgeting.
