New Hanover Regional Medical Center recognizes the important role the media play in bringing matters of general interest to the public. We want to help reporters get accurate information as quickly as possible. Whether reporters are looking for general health information or someone to talk about what NHRMC is doing to serve patients, one call to the Marketing and Public Relations Department can put them in touch with the people they need to tell their story.

Media representatives on NHRMC property
All reporters visiting an NHRMC property must first make arrangements through the Marketing and Public Relations Department. Members of the media are escorted at all times while on the property to ensure the privacy of our patients is protected and to provide any assistance needed to the reporter. Media credentials should be visible while on the property. If your credentials are not visible, a media badge will be provided during your visit by the Marketing and Public Relations Department.
Photographing on NHRMC property
Members of the media who wish to take photographs (interior or exterior) on NHRMC property must first make arrangements through the Marketing and Public Relations Department. Photographers must be escorted while on the property. Photographs and video of patients, patients' families and visitors can only be taken if a signed privacy release has been obtained by the Marketing and Public Relations Department. This includes individuals in the background of photos or videos.
Requests for interviews
The media relations coordinator can help arrange interviews with NHRMC administration and medical staff members. Please provide as much information as possible about the subject of the story so we can find the most appropriate person for the interview. A list of questions is helpful so that our staff members can be properly prepared. Providing as much advanced notice as possible is also appreciated to help coordinate schedules. We will try our best to provide same day interviews when requested, however the schedules of our administrators and staff members sometimes make immediate contact more difficult to obtain.
Requests for interviews with patients and family members should also be coordinated through our media relations coordinator. The reporter must provide the patient's name and we will check the hospital's directory to see if that patient is listed. If so, we will attempt to contact the patient or family member to relay your request. If the patient or family member agrees to the interview, a member of the Marketing and Public Relations Department will meet you in the main lobby of the hospital and escort you to the proper location. Patient or family members must sign a privacy release form prior to any interview. These are provided by the Marketing and Public Relations Department.
