Office 365 safety updates will change which files you can download on personal devices.

December 13, 2021

Upcoming Office 365 Changes: NHRMC is implementing additional security controls to protect Novant Health NHRMC sensitive and/or confidential information.  These changes will impact the way team members access corporate email and Office files from personal computers.

What does this mean for you?

  1. Corporate Computers/Laptops, whether being used in the office or at home, will have no Office 365 restrictions.
  2. Team members using personally owned PC’s or desktops must use the web version of Office 365 when attempting to access and edit files and messages in Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.  The web version is available at nhrmc.okta.com or office.com.  File Downloads to personal devices from O365 applications such as Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, etc. will be blocked.
  3. If you’re currently using Outlook web on your mobile device, restrictions will also be in place just like a personal PC/Laptop and attachments will also not open. We recommend using the Outlook app for email on mobile devices so that the user experience is more streamlined and the functionality is supported.
