New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Wound Care Clinic has received an award for exceeding quality benchmarks.
The clinic received the Going the Distance award from RestorixHealth, a national wound health management organization. NHRMC’s clinic earned the award by exceeding the national wound clinic benchmarks for wound care in six categories.
In 2020, NHRMC’s clinic had a 21-day heal rate – far below the national benchmark of 32 days to heal a wound. The clinic healed a total of 920 wounds last year.
“Imagine the hospitalizations that were prevented, the limbs that were salvaged, and the lives that were saved by healing those wounds,” said Candice Curtin, RN, director of the Wound Care Clinic. “We are so grateful to our talented team for their hard work and expertise that led to this award.”
