Each year, the UNC School of Medicine holds the Whitehead Lecture and Awards Ceremony. This event, named in honor of Dr. Richard Whitehead, who served as Dean of the School of Medicine from 1890 to 1905, serves as an unofficial convocation for the School of Medicine. An exciting part of this event is the awarding of prestigious honors to outstanding Faculty, Residents, and Medical Students.
 
The Wilmington Campus of the UNC School of Medicine is proud to recognize Class of 2021 Medical Student, Kaiulani Houston, who has done her full-time 3rd and 4th year clinical training at the Wilmington Campus and NHRMC, is the recipient of the Brett J. Pearce and Lauren K. Brown Memorial Award.
