Geoff Honaker, Director of Media Services, will retire from NHRMC on September 25.
Geoff has enjoyed a 37-year career at NHRMC, starting with AHEC in February 1983. He served as Director of Educational Technology Services and Manager of the NHRMC Telemedecine program before becoming Director of Enterprise Media Technologies.

“Geoff has been the go-to guy for all Enterprise Media Technologies needs, and we will miss his contribution and dry sense of humor,” said John Tuman, Chief Technology Officer.
Geoff was instrumental in the early adoption of telemedicine and the statewide adoption of best practices and standards for the new technology, including T1-based video conferencing. He served on several prominent North Carolina technology advisory boards. He shepherded both AHEC and NHRMC’s transition to new high-speed IP distance learning models. For this service and others, Geoff was honored with the order of the Long Leaf Pine by the governor of NC.
In retirement, Geoff hopes to spend more time volunteering and finish some house projects. When it’s safe to do so, he wants to travel to music festivals, possibly rejoin the local theater scene and just enjoy life.
