New Hanover Regional Medical Center will close all non-emergency entrances at 7 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2020 as part of preparations for Tropical Storm Isaias, which may make landfall as a Category 1 hurricane. The only exception will be for women in labor and their support person, who can go directly to the entrance of the NHRMC Betty H. Cameron Women’s & Children’s Hospital at any time.
All NHRMC Emergency Departments will remain open through the storm, including those at NHRMC’s 17th Street Campus, Orthopedic Hospital, Pender Memorial Hospital and NHRMC Emergency Department - North.
NHRMC remains under mandatory visitor restrictions due to the pandemic. NHRMC has outlined some exceptions to allow limited essential support persons to accompany patients, and will announce when the non-emergency entrances are reopened.
Meanwhile, NHRMC Physician Group locations will not open for in-person visits before noon on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. Physician Group practices will be available for virtual and phone visits during this time to ensure that patients can still access their care providers. Pending the results of post-storm damage assessments, practices will likely return to see patients in-person on Tuesday afternoon.
